Deputies Respond to Shots Fired

On July 31, 2016 at approximately 9:50 PM the Jackson County Sheriff's Department responded to the 300 block of Mutton Creek Dr where a female reportedly fired a gun at least two times inside a residence.

Deputies were met outside by a male who told them a female was inside with a firearm. The female would not respond to Deputies orders to come out, however a Sheriff’s dispatcher made contact with the female by telephone and was able to talk Crystal Black, 39 of Seymour into coming out of the bedroom.

Black and her male partner had been in an argument that resulted in Black hitting the male in the face with her fist. Black then got a gun out of a safe and shot two rounds in the direction of the master bathroom toward the male. A 14 year old female was also inside the residence during the incident.

Crystal Black was arrested for domestic battery in the presence of a minor and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
