New Release-Burglary & Theft Arrests

        NEWS RELEASE - Jackson County Sheriff's Department

On October 15, 2019 at approximately 5:40 PM Deputy JL McElfresh responded to the 3000 block S CR 1200 W reference theft/burglary. While speaking to the homeowner Deputy McElfresh learned someone has broken into this residence on several occasions and 2 possible suspect names were given. Entry for previous break-ins were someone going through a window and prying a sliding glass door
open. The two suspect names were Tevis Deaton and Laniaka Carlisle.

At Approximately 9:15 PM on the same date Deputy McElfesh learned the two suspects may be at a residence just north of the victims. Deputy McElfresh and Deputy Jordan Hawn responded to the residence. Deputy McElfresh was able to interview Deaton and Carlisle. During the interview the Deaton admitted to breaking into the residence on 4 occasions. Carlisle said she only went into the
residence once or twice. Deaton also showed Deputy McElfresh where most of the stolen items were located.

Laniaka Carlisle, 18 of Nabb IN was arrested for burglary and theft. Tevis Deaton, 22 of Medora was arrested for 4 counts of burglary and 4 counts of theft.
