Traffic Stop Leads to Meth Bust

On July 19, 2018 just before Midnight Jackson County Deputy Mark Holt performed a traffic stop in the area of 719 North Chestnut Street in Seymour, Indiana. The stop was a result of two motorcycles failing to have tail lights.

Once Holt was on the traffic stop, Deputy Mitch Ray was requested to assist. While conducting the stop, Deputy Ray discovered a large quantity of Methamphetamine.

After investigating further into the matter it was determined that Michael E. Fortner of North Vernon, Indiana was in possession of 30 grams of Methamphetamine.

Deputy Ray interviewed Fortner, who then admitted he intended to deliver the Methamphetamine to women for entertainment purposes.

This resulted in the charges of Dealing in Methamphetamine (Level 2 Felony) and Possession of Methamphetamine, 30 grams(Level 3 Felony). Additional charges include Possession of Marijuana(Level 6 Felony and Possession of Paraphernalia-Prior(Level 6 Felony).
