Barker Sworn in as Newest Deputy

Judge MacTavish, with Deputy Barker and Family

Bradley W. Barker was recently sworn in as Jackson County's newest Deputy Sheriff. He was hired to fill a position left open after the retirement of James R. "Bobby" Cummings earlier this month. Cummings retired after 40 years with the Department.

Superior Court II Judge Bruce MacTavish performed the swearing-in ceremony. Deputy Barker's family was in attendance as well as several co-workers from the Sheriff's Department.

Before becoming full-time, Barker served as Sheriff Reserve Deputy for 7 years. He has been heavily involved in many aspects of the Reserve Deputy program including organizing the annual Reserve Deputy Golf Scramble fund raiser, and maintaining the Reserve Deputy patrol fleet.

We appreciate the level of dedication Brad has shown and look forward to all that he will contribute to our County in the future.

Best of Luck, Deputy Barker!
