On Tuesday September 12, 2017 at 6:21PM the Sheriff's Department received a report of an injury accident at 11379 E US 50.

According to Sheriff's Reserve Deputy Charlie Murphy's report, the driver of a
2015 Toyota minivan, Melvin T. Noah, 75 of Versailles was driving westbound on
US 50 with his cruise control activated. Noah told Murphy that a truck he was
following began to slow down. Noah stated he applied his brakes but the cruise
control would not shut off. Mr. Noah then swerved left to avoid hitting the
truck in front of him. Noah's 2015 Toyota then left the south side of
the roadway and traveled 168 feet to the initial impact with the embankment.

Noah's vehicle then traveled 128 more feet from the embankment to a building
owned by Trimpe Trucking, and leased by Wischmeier Trucking.

A witness who was traveling in front of Noah stated he watched the Toyota in his
rear view mirror as it left the roadway and went up into the yard, and eventually
struck the building.

The Toyota van struck a post on the building and a semi truck parked
inside the building. The impact pushed the semi tractor into another semi
tractor that was parked next to it.

All of the front and side air bags were deployed on the Toyota and three passengers in Noah's vehicle were taken to Schneck Medical Center for treatment. Tersita Noah complained of chest pain, and Janet Harriett complained of head, face, and back pain. Carol Noah was a rear passenger and didn't complain of pain, however she was taken for evaluation. Melvin Noah was not injured.

Murphy was assisted at the scene by Sheriff Reserve Deputies Scott Davis and Brad
Barker, along with Seymour Police officers Ryan Huddleston, Devin Cornwell, and
Ben Miller, Jackson County EMS, Seymour Fire Department, and Indiana State
Police.
